Tilly's 6 Month Pupdate

Tilly is now six months old and nearly half way through her puppy training with her Puppy Walker, Josephine. We have recently been in touch with her to find out how Tilly is progressing.

Josephine tells us that Tilly is a lovely, cheeky pup who is progressing well with her training. An important skill that Josephine has been working on with Tilly over the past few months is her recall when free running. After a bit of trial   and error, Tilly's recall is now pretty reliable, unless she finds something she is interested in and subsequently becomes distracted. Behaviour like this is quite normal for a pup of Tilly's age and we are sure that with a bit more practice   her recall will become even better.

Since we last wrote to you, Tilly has been introduced to bus and train travel, both of which she responded to well. She didn't even have a problem jumping over the gap between the train and the platform, which some young pups can struggle with. Josephine has also taken her to several busy situations such as a Christmas fayre and Nottingham city centre and we are told she hasn't been fazed by anything she has come across. During the recent firework season Tilly wasn't scared by any of the loud noises she heard, even when there was a large firework display at a school near Josephine's house.

Tilly's behaviour around other animals is very good; she rarely gets distracted by other dogs when out walking and, if she does, it is easy to regain her attention. Josephine has also introduced her to walking up and down stairs and riding in lifts. Tilly has no problems with either of these exercises which is great to hear. Tilly hasn't yet been fitted with her puppy training jacket but once this is done she will be able to wear this out and about on her training walks.

Although Tilly is generally a very well behaved pup, she does have some cheeky habits. One of these is stealing wood from Josephine's wood basket and ripping it up into little pieces. She also likes to find things around the house and run off with them.

Tilly sounds like a bright pup who is learning lots with the help of Josephine. We hope you have enjoyed her latest pupdate and we look forward to sending you another report card soon.
